On Friday 20th June 2026, Coal Harbour's very own Xander laced up his fire boots, pulled on his kit, and headed to the South Coast Firefighter Challenge — and we're absolutely delighted to share that he came away with a bronze medal in his age category.

It's been a fantastic season of competition for Coal Harbour, and this latest result is another brilliant achievement to add to the collection.

A Podium Finish to Be Proud Of

The South Coast Firefighter Challenge is a demanding test of physical fitness and mental resilience, pushing competitors to their limits across a series of gruelling events — all carried out in full firefighting kit and breathing apparatus. From hose drags and dummy carries to barrel carries and sprints, every discipline is designed to replicate the real demands of life in the fire service.

To finish on the podium in any age category is a tremendous achievement, and Xander's bronze medal is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and sheer determination he brings both to Coal Harbour and to his role as an On-Call Firefighter.

A Brilliant Day of Competition

Events like the South Coast Firefighter Challenge are about so much more than medals. They bring together firefighters from across the country for a day of camaraderie, competition, and community — all in support of a cause that matters deeply to us here at Coal Harbour.

The atmosphere on the day was fantastic, and it was a privilege to be part of it. Congratulations to all competitors who took part — every single one of you should be incredibly proud.

Supporting the Fire Fighters Charity

As always, events like this raise vital funds and awareness for the Fire Fighters Charity, which provides essential support services to serving and retired firefighters and their families — covering everything from mental health and physical rehabilitation to financial assistance.

At Coal Harbour, our connection to the fire service runs deep. We serve as On-Call Firefighters in the local community, and supporting the Fire Fighters Charity is something close to all of our hearts.
